Farmers' Solar Power Cooperative
 
"Dhundi Saur Urja Utpadak Sahakari Mandali" in Gujarat is the world's first Solar Pump Irrigators' Cooperative Enterprise (SPICE). The project was initiated by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and promotes Solar Power as a Remunerative Crop (SPaRC). 
Cooperative members use solar power in place of diesel to run irrigation pumps and collectively sell surplus energy to the electricity grid, an additional incentive to avoid overuse of groundwater.
